My Yoga Journey

Riana A.Singgih first started Iyengar yoga when she was studying in San Francisco, USA. After knowing the benefits of Iyengar Yoga, her passion and devotion to practice grew, and in time, her understanding increased. To further her knowledge in Iyengar yoga, Riana then went to Pune to study with Guruji B.K.S Iyengar in 1990s when she was in her early 20s. She then started the Iyengar yoga centre in Indonesia when she returned to home in late 1990s. She feels blessed to be among the 10 disciples chosen to accompany Guruji on perhaps his last overseas trip to Guangzhou, China, in June 2011 in which was the biggest Yoga Summit attended by more than 1.300 people from China and around the world.

My Practice

Riana's fervent dedication has enabled her to become one of Asia’s most senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher. She travels regularly to Pune, India to deepen and further advance her knowledge at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI), headed by Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar himself. Riana has a natural desire for perfection and is committed to the improvement of her technique. Those who know Riana will tell you of her compassionate nature and respect for life. It is this kindness that moved her to set up the 'Riana A. Singgih Foundation'; a foundation which donates funds raised through Yoga Events to various charities.

My Teaching

Riana conducts workshops and teacher training in Asia with the personal blessing, support and guidance of her teacher, Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar; whose teachings and words of wisdom have greatly inspired her. With over 20 years of experience, she applies her enthusiasm in class through her direct, focused and practical teaching methods; encouraging her students to develop with precision. As well as a contentious Teacher, Riana is the Founder and was the Chairperson of the 'Iyengar Yoga Centre' in Indonesia (IYCI) and Singapore (IYCS). More recently, Riana opened the first Yoga Institute in Indonesia with the intention of offering affordable yoga to all students.
